1. FunPlus Phoenix
FunPlus Phoenix is one of the top Esport teams leading in LoL. In their first World Championship, they dominated G2 Esports with a score of 3-0. This Chinese squad plays under FunPlus, an Esports organization that also competes in other games.
Their toplaner is Gimgoon, who has been a professional League of Legends gamer for six years. Gao Tian-Lang is FPX’s youngest player at 19 years old. He won a Finals MVP trophy in Worlds 2019 as a Jungle main.
Doinb is FPX’s midlaner and has been a professional player since 2015. Lwx is FPX’s ADC and became the first player to pass with 0 deaths in a World’s finals. Crisp has been FPX’s support member since 2017 and favors tank champions.
2. Invictus Gaming
Invictus Gaming was once regarded as a Chinese team that only ever came close to winning. In 2018, Invictus Gaming finally proved everyone wrong with an astounding victory. Their solo laners, TheShy and Rookie, are arguably some of the best players in the world.
Leyan and Ning are Invictus Gaming’s current Junglers. The team’s decisive team fighting and unapologetic aggression are what lead to their victory in World 2018.
3. G2 Esports
G2 Esports has a long history of victories. Their talent and skill in League of Legends earned the name of Kings of Europe. But while towering over other teams from their home country, G2 Esports never secured a spot in international gaming until 2019.
In 2019, G2 Esports claimed first place in the 2019 Mid Seasonal Invitationals. This event comes close to the renowned League Of Legend World Championships.
Their lineup consists of Wunder, Jankos, Caps, Perks, and Mithy. These players combined brain and brawn through their well-thought strategies and amazing execution. Ever since G2 Esports qualified for the EU LCS, this team continued racking up victories.
4. SKT Telecom T1
You may know SKT Telecom T1 as the team that featured in a League of Legends video entitled RISE. SKT T1 holds four consecutive Worlds titles. Fans know SKT T1 to be an unforgiving roster, taking advantage of their enemies’ smallest mistakes to win.
SKT T1 has one of the best League of Legends players of all time, Faker. His acute senses and deep understanding of that game is what helped him gain so many victories. But in 2018, SKT failed to qualify for Worlds for the first time in history.
SKT T1 stayed quiet for most of 2019. But halfway through the year, SKT T1 rose through the ranks once more.
5. Griffin
Griffin first showed their potential in the 2017 KesPA Cup. Griffin showed astounding teamwork, leading to 2-0 victories against APK Prince and Afreeca Freecs. Their performance was on par with SKT T1, and they managed to get a large fanbase even after losing.
In Worlds 2019, Griffin took first place in the LCK 2019 Spring and Summer Spit. Griffin was also runner ups in the LCK 2019 Spring and Summer playoffs, placing behind SKT T1.
Griffin parted ways with their head coach cvMax before the 2019 World Championship. Griffin returned in 2020 Worlds, but with a different team. Fans are unsure if Griffin would make a comeback after finding out they didn’t sign up for LCK 2021.
6. Cloud 9
Cloud 9 is a multi-gaming Esports team based in North America. Former rosters of Quantic Gaming formed Cloud 9 after Quantic Gaming dissolved. Cloud 9’s original roster consists of Balls, Meteos, Hai, Sneaky, and Lemonnation.
Cloud 9 had a streak of 43-7 in their first 50 games. They also took two consecutive LCS wins. After their subpar performance in Worlds, Cloud 9 came out with a new roster.
Their new teams consisted of Licorice, Blaber, Nisqy, Sven, and Vulcan. C9’s new roster shows dominant performance, but their strength comes mainly from Blaber.
Blaber is C9’s jungler. Lillia The Bashful Bloom was the most recent addition to LoL’s champions. But rumors are spiraling about their new champion, League of Legends Yone.
7. Damwon Gaming
Fans know Damwon Gaming as the team that continuously climbs up the ladder. This team placed fifth in their first Challenger series. In 2018, Damwon Gaming took first place in the CK 2018 Summer Split with only one loss.
Damwon Gaming began working their way up the LoL ranks since to 2019 LCK Summer Split. They climbed up to fourth and third place in the following games. Damwon Gaming topped the regional finals in LCK 2019.
8. Team SoloMid
Based in the United States, Team SoloMid is a professional Esports organization founded in 2009. In the last three months, Team SoloMid participated in eight matches. They won five.
Team SoloMid finally revealed their final lineup for the 2020 League of Legends Championship Series. This is following the departure of Smoothie and Sven, and Spica’s transfer to Academy.
Team SoloMid’s new and final roster consists of Broken Blade, Dardoch, Bjergsen, Kobbe, and Biofrost.
