Classic Holiday Movies to Look For on TV This Year

December 11, 2020

Classic holiday movies to look for on tv this year | lets be game changers lets be game changers

You had a long day. After back-to-back meetings the Zoom fatigue is strong, and all you want to do is relax. Furthermore, it’s snowy and below freezing outside, and all you can think about is curling up on the sofa with a blanket to unwind before you hit the sheets. You turn the TV on, and to your delight, the Turner Classic Movie channel is running a retro holiday movie marathon, you can even try 3d glasses for 3d tv to make it more exciting.

Holiday movies are the perfect remedy for a long, stressful day. And fortunately, because it’s the festive season, such films are shown endlessly on TV stations from now until well into the New Year. There are so many of them; it’s sometimes difficult to choose which one to watch. We’ve created a list of holiday classics, ranging from comedy to children’s to vintage favourites. So, get those cozy blankets out and make some popcorn because you’re about to spend a lot of time on the couch watching movies!

Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

What’s not to love about the Home Alone series? If you’re not familiar with the films, we’ll provide you with a brief synopsis. Kevin McCallister (played by one Macauley Culkin) is a mischievous young boy with a large family that tends to go on Christmas vacations without him unintentionally. In both films, Kevin is left behind on his own — once at home and the other in New York City — to defeat a pair of knuckleheaded burglars, played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. These classics are inspiring tales, bringing to light the importance of family and the season’s giving spirit. Home Alone and Home Alone 2 frequently air throughout the holidays on TV. Just flick to your guide, and there’s almost a 100% chance that it will be on sometime very soon.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

If you haven’t seen the 1964 stop-animation version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, then you’re in for a real treat. Narrated by American singer Burl Ives, this heart-warming classic was originally a Christmas special made for NBC. This particular touching story of the reindeer with the red nose we all know and love is a stop-motion animated film and is ideal for people of any age. It spans through the life of dear Rudolph and all of the trials and tribulations he went through to become Santa’s number one boy. It’s a movie full of nostalgia and charm that you’ll never forget. It’s now distributed on CBS, so be sure to tune in. If you have a satellite TV provider like Poynt 360 you could watch it several times in a row because of the time-shifting option!

It’s a Wonderful Life

This 1946 classic is the beautiful portrayal of George Bailey (James Stewart) and his quest for life’s meaning. We won’t give away any spoilers, but it’s considered one of the greatest movies of all time. It’s also guaranteed to be on your television this season, so don’t miss out.

Get comfy, and tune your TV into these holiday films. All three of these films are tearjerkers, so be sure to have a box of Kleenex close by!
