6 Home Upgrades That Are A Total Waste Of Your Time And Money

May 1, 2019

Everybody wants to upgrade their house, but do you know that there are some upgrades that are a total waste of your time and money. Let’s check them out so that we can all stay away from them.

1. Making a Pool

No doubt, it sounds very cool and luxurious to have a pool at your house but it is nothing more than waste of money – as it requires large sums of money during installation and even after that it requires a lot of maintenance that cost you on monthly basis.

Even when your pool is not in use and you have covered it, it still requires a cleaning process for two or three times a month. Also, a pool at your house decreases the overall value of your house and you end up losing thousands of dollars whenever you need to sell your house.

2. Sticking Wallpapers

Of course wallpapers look really great and give a beautiful sight of your rooms but removing them when needed is heck of a task. It can also be a difficult process which requires a complete day almost for a finished touch. And again, it is going to damage your wall quality when you remove a wallpaper.

3. Outdoor Kitchen

Though it sounds interesting when you have spring season and you plan for some parties that don’t ruin your house and requires your whole day cleaning afterwards but it can cost you a lot of money.

It has an impact on total value of your house and does not give you much ROI compared to your spending. Maintenance of outdoor kitchens and the appliances is another story that requires a lot of time and (guess what) money.

4. Bathroom Renovations

It is good to spend a small amount for your bathroom renovations but if you are planning to spend thousands of dollars then you need to rethink.

No doubt, changing taps to some luxurious stylish ones looks amazing but do they contribute in increasing value of your house? Obviously no and secondly it might require more cleaning time than before so consider all such aspects before going for such renovations.

5. Investing in a Sun Room

It is a good idea to have one at your house but did you just build it in your backyard? Is it going to give you expected ROI as compared to the expenses you made during building this room? Does the cost you put in building and then maintaining this room worth devaluing your house? Answers to such questions are enough to make you take a wise decision for your house that are beneficial for you in long run

6. Building Customized Things

You might like a fish aquarium through the whole wall or a hot tub which looks fascinating and joyful for you but it is not wise to spend money on this.

Firstly, it decreases the value of your house as this customization is not attractive for everyone and secondly it requires a lot of maintenance and ultimately cost you more money than you planned.

During all your renovations, you need to responsibly dispose of debris or remove junk in case of house cleanup. For that, a reliable junk removal service is what you need. You will thank us later!
