From WWF to WCW, over the past 70 years, fans have faithfully cheered and supported their favorite wrestler from bout to bout. As a fan of professional wrestling, you rally past the finishing moves, bright colors and high flying action to the relatable storylines and characters.

According to Fightful, WWE events have garnered an average of over 2 million views per show on several different networks. Wrestling is more than sports entertainment, it’s entertainment for anyone who enjoys high flying thrills, drama, and action.

9: Edge

Edge entered the WWE in 1997 but his love for wrestling started long before he became the beloved Rated-R Superstar. Born Adam Joseph Copeland, Edge trained and wrestled throughout the ’90s where he competed in singles and tag team matches.

Rising through the WWE ranks in the early 2000’s Edge and Christian (Jason Reso) were portrayed as childhood friends turned world wrestling federation tag team champs. During their reign, the duo won seven Tag Team Champions.

Their intensity during the first 3 Table, Ladders, and Chairs match was the catalyst to Edge’s popularity and help capitulate him into WWE Superstardom and number 9 on our list of top wrestlers of all time.

8: John Cena

Exbodybuilder, John Felix Anthony Cena Jr. switched from sculpting his body to personifying the “hustle, loyalty, and respect” motto on WWE in just two years,

According to The Internet Wrestling Database, Cena has a winning percentage of 76.4%. His dedication to his craft has resulted in a 16-time world champion title that only tied with The Nature Boy, Ric Flair. Cena’s hero-like persona has made him one of the most recognizable and celebrated pro wrestlers of the past two decades.

7: Macho Man Randy Savage

Randy Savage was born Randy Poffo. When it comes to eye-catching pop and an unmistakable voice, look no further than Randy Savage.

After finishing a stint as a professional baseball player Savage decided to ditched the mound for the wrestling ring resulting in a 32-year wrestling career and multiple-championships.

6: Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels was born Michael Shawn Hickenbottom. The Heartbreak Kid has a phenomenal pro wrestling career having stared in WrestleMania five times.

Michaels started his wrestling journey in 1984 with the National Wrestling Alliance. By the time Michaels made it to the WWF in 1988 started garnering a reputation as an agitator. 20 years later Michaels would retire as one of the best performers to step in the ring.

5: The Undertaker

When it comes to wrestling personas that surpass the ring, The Undertaker’s quiet, eerie horror-themed display and demeanor have made him one of the most prolific performers in professional wrestling.

With over 20 WrestleMania wins and three decades of professional wrestling under his belt, Mark William Calaway, better known as The Undertaker remains one of the foremost recognizable figures from the “Attitude Era”.

Undertaker will always be credited with ushering a new level of art and performance to the ring. According to Wrestling Data, The Undertaker has had over 170 matches throughout his career an accomplishment only reached by Kane and Triple H.

Undertaker’s longevity continues to be a testament to his love for the sport and another reason why he is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

4: Ric Flair

Ric Flair was born Richard Fliehr. Flair has a wrestling career that spans over 40 years. The Nature Boy’s endurance and commitment to entertainment have resulted in two inductions WWE Hall Of Fame.

Flair started his wrestling career in the ’70s and by the 80’s he had positioned himself as the epitome of a wrestler. A Showman and athlete Flair remains a 16-time Heavyweight champion who’s over the top personality has made him a relevant legend in sports, music, and culture.

3: Hulk

Whether you’re honing your skills in wrestling school or you die-hard wrestling fan, no one has had an impact on wrestling as much as Hulk Hogan.

During the ’80s and ’90s, nothing in wrestling was bigger than Hollywood Hulk Hogan.

Agreeably the best wrestler ever, Hogan, began his career in 1977 and grew to become the 80’s idea of the all-American hero. Hogan set the scene for the wrestling boom during the 80’s on the back of his persona.

Donning his famous red and yellow Hulkamania bandana, Hogan would go on to star in the first nine WrestleMania, ultimately unleashing his Hulkamania brand on the world.

During his wrestling career, Hogan held the WWF championship five times and won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship six times making him one the most recognizable professional wrestlers.

2: The Rock

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has worked tirelessly to become the most electrifying man in entertainment.

When The Rock started wrestling professionally in 1996, he was marketed as the first 3rd generation wrestler in WWF history. Over the next eight years, he charmed his way on the viewer’s tv set and rose through the ranks as an egotistical unruffled magnetic wrestler.

By the early 2000s, The Rock became a household name thanks to his efforts during the “Attitude Era”. The boom of the “Attitude Era” brought the WWE superstar into the forefront of sports entertainment ushering the opportunity for the wrestler to put the smackdown on his acting skill.

1: Stone Cold Steve Austin

Stone Cold Steve Austin had an amazing career as the beer-guzzling, anti-establishment underdog wrestler that launched the WWE into it’s “Attitude Era”.

The Texas Rattle Snake was born Steven James Anderson. Austin has had more iconic matches than any other wrestler.

Throughout his career, Austin won 19 championships, six-time as WWF World Heavyweight champion.  While capturing the admiration of wrestling fans worldwide, he used his abrasive demeanor and “What?” chant and supreme wrestling prowess to fortify him as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

Even Vince McMahon stated that Austin to be the biggest wrestling star in WWF or WWE history.
