According to one study, about 30% of students say that they’re bored at school.

In order to keep students engaged and improve education, you may need to take certain measures to make sure that happens.

But what are some things you should try? Keep reading to find out what you can do!

1. Improve Technology

One of the first things you should do is to improve technology at the school. Technology is changing the way students learn, and it can really help students learn even more.

You can give them access to the curriculum and homework so that they don’t have to carry as much homework or assignments at school. They can also use this to check their grades or find resources in one place.

It’s also great for teachers and the administration. You could incorporate something like this learning management system for example.

2. Give Them Space

You should also try different things other than the traditional education setting. Most teachers will teach everything to the children and give them exact directions they have to follow.

However, this doesn’t give them any place to discover things on their own or take initiative. When you give them some space and don’t hover over them in the classroom, it’s easier for them to learn more on their own.

3. Don’t Overcrowd Classes

Students won’t learn well if the teacher has to pay attention to thirty other students. Most schools are at capacity just because of the teacher shortage, but this also affects lower minority students the most.

When classes are overcrowded, the teachers won’t get to spend as much time with each student, and each student won’t get the personalized learning care that they need to succeed.

It’s also not great for the teachers because they can get overstressed and worked, which won’t help the students learn either.

While you may not have the funding or resources to have small class sizes, you should try and make an effort to make that a priority.

4. Put Students First

In order for your school to succeed, you need to ensure that your students always come first. To make sure they’re at the forefront of all your policies and ideas, you can host conferences that are led by them.

This will give them a chance to voice their opinions and give statuses on their progress. You can also have them write down a few ways that they think schools could improve that they think would help them.

In order to get better responses, you can also make these surveys anonymous.

In a less formal way, you can have each classroom have a suggestion box. If students feel like they’re struggling or have ideas on something to change, you can leave these boxes for them to leave anonymous suggestions.

5. Organize Your Resources

At a school, you’ll have plenty of resources to manage, like facilities, money, time, staff, and students.

Make sure you take time to ensure that these all have good management and that they run smoothly.  When you take care of these things first, like the teachers, and ensure that they’re happy and paid well, you’ll also be taking care of the students indirectly as well.

Also, keep eye on eLearning solutions for schools and parents to manage your learning process.

6. Encourage Them

While younger students might need more guidance, your students should have space to pursue something that they’re interested in.

You can still incorporate these passionate projects into the regular curriculum. It encourages them to be themselves, and it can also help them realize what they want to pursue in college or as a career later on in life.

One thing you can try and do is be a guide for them instead of trying to micromanage every little thing they do. Try and not to interrupt them or correct them if it isn’t necessary.

If you do need to correct them, try and do it in a way that doesn’t interrupt them. For example, you can write your feedback down on a note or piece of paper and give them their feedback later on.

7. Fund Your School More

This may not be in your control depending on where your school is located, but it can be helpful to have more funding for your school. You may have to play a little bit of politics, but it will help your school in the end.

When trying to figure out how to fund your school, you should try and look at the long-term future.

8. Try Different Teaching Methods

Lastly, you might want to try different teaching methods as well. Not every student will learn the same way, so if you find a student struggling, you may need to figure out a new way to connect with that student. Your students may need help with homework if they don’t get the material enough.

One strategy that teachers try is called a problem-to-solution. This is a way to find the best solution for a problem. In this model, children will be presented with a problem, and then they’ll have to find the best solution.

However, on the other hand, there is a solution-to-problem method. In this method, there won’t be a problem, and children will find solutions for something that could happen.
