Brain fog is something you may have experienced before, even if you were unaware of it. You may feel out of focus or spaced out due to various things, including stress and exhaustion, and that’s what brain or mental fog is. It’s normal to experience it, but if it’s constant or has been happening for an extended period, it could affect your normal functions and quality of life. You may need to consult a doctor if it gets severe that interferes with your day-to-day living. As mentioned, there are various causes to this, including the following:

  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Toxin overload
  • Chronic disease
  • Poor diet
  • Inflammation
  • Lack of sleep
  • Hormonal changes

Besides zoning out, there are also other brain fog symptoms like lack of ideas, concentration issues, irritability, forgetfulness, mood swings, headaches, and insomnia. You can do various things to treat or prevent brain fog. Check out some of them below.

Exercise

Exercise boosts the production of the feel-good hormone dopamine. As a result, it helps clear the mind and relieves stress and depression, which are common causes of brain fog. Studies also suggest that it improves overall cognitive health. Moreover, there’s also a correlation between good cardiovascular health and brain function.

Meditation

It’s one of the best treatments for brain fog because it helps clear the mind, thus allowing you to focus and think better. It can also relieve other problems that may cause brain fog, including depression, anxiety, and stress. There are meditation books and videos that can guide you in the process. Moreover, you may get the help of a meditation instructor or teacher to give you one-on-one instruction on how to do it right.

Cannabis

Like exercise, the use of cannabis is also believed to increase the production of dopamine in the system. Besides making you feel good, it also helps clear your mind, thus making you feel more alert and focused. Use quality rolling papers to have the best experience. Some are free from nicotine if you don’t want the taste of tobacco on your joints.

Exhaustion and not having enough sleep can affect your concentration. Get ample sleep or proper rest to keep your mind sharp.
