All across the world, people are battling anxiety and depression. It does not discriminate against geographical regions or even age. Anxiety and depression are on the rise. The rate at which it continues to prevail is becoming alarming. If you could be suffering from anxiety and depression disorders such as sleep disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, panic or anxiety attacks, then you may be diagnosed with mental illness. According to a 2013 study by the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, approximately 40 million Americans struggle with some form of anxiety disorder. It is thus very crucial to look for indications and find appropriate ways to treat. Here are some things you do not know about anxiety and depression.

  1. Eating Disorders

Anxiety and depression feel like an uncontrollable burden. Most people end up controlling their bodies instead resulting in various forms of eating disorders. Interestingly not only through the common eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. You may turn an obsession with healthy food and exercise. All this when done to the extreme they become unhealthy to the body. These are hazardous ways of managing crippling anxiety. If you notice these traits, it is advisable to seek treatment.

  1. Excessive Substance Use

The pain of dealing with anxiety and depression may become unbearable for many people. They may end up in the hunt for substance use as a way to numb this pain. This could be through the use of alcoholic drinks, popping pills, using street drugs and self- medication of prescribed medication. You should note that substance use runs the risk of creating substance abuse. This can become an added problem to deal with as well.

  1. Sleep Disorders

Severe forms of anxiety and depression trigger poor sleep patterns. These problems associated with sleeping are referred to as parasomnias. When you feel anxious, you may find it difficult to sleep for long hours and have disturbed sleep such. Going through severe forms of sleep disorders can be distressing and may even deteriorate the condition.

  1. Indigestion and Stomach Upsets

Anxiety has been found to trigger irritable bowel syndrome. Its symptoms include indigestion, stomach pain, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation. According to Harvard Health, the gastrointestinal tract is tied to emotion; anxiety, depression, anger, etc. in case you are experiencing gut problems but the doctors cannot find any diagnosis, you could be anxious.

  1. Easily Angered

Depression and anxiety heighten the fight, flight and freeze response. You may also find that you are very impatient and angry. You discover that when you are around your social circle, you always want to leave. Being moody at all times and withdrawn seems to be more comfortable than being around people. Doctors say that these feelings seem to be very common on people suffering from anxiety and depression.

  1. Indecision

Believe it or not, being unable to make decisions could be a symptom of anxiety or depression. You always find a reason as to why your choices would not work. You are emotionally invested in every decision you make, and every option comes with a downside or loss.

  1. Withdrawal

Many people who are suffering from anxiety or depression are afraid of social situations. You find that you prefer isolation and your interaction with other people is involuntary. You fear judgment, rejection, and ridicule by other people. Social Anxiety Disorder is one of the more painful ways that anxiety can manifest.

  1. Use Of CBD Oil

You will find most of those with anxiety and depression are turning to natural methods of treatments such as the use of CBD oil. CBD oil (cannabidiol) is a product of the cannabis plant. It, however, does not contain THC, which is the substance in marijuana that gives you a high. According to CBDTrust, CBD oil reduces many forms of anxiety such as behavior, traumatic stress insomnia, and negative thoughts among others. Unknown to many the symptoms of anxiety and depression manifest in our daily routines.

For anyone sufferings from either anxiety or depression, just know you are not alone. Your feelings are okay, and you are not the only one experiencing this. Always remember people exhibit different signs. Do not be afraid to reach out for help for your mental health is essential.
