Appreciating the beauty of traditional architecture in delhi | lets be game changers lets be game changers

Every nook and corner of Delhi has a history spanning over millennia. After landing from a Mumbai to Delhi flight, get ready to witness the beauty of establishments constructed by the rulers of the past. Check out this comprehensive list of all the top unmissable historical monuments in our nation’s capital.

Qutub Minar

Mughal rule was established in India in 1206 when Qutubuddin Aibak sat on the Delhi throne. He built the Qutub Minar at the height of 73 metres. The red sandstone and magnificent carvings allure tourists to the historic place. It remains open to visitors from sunrise to sunset every day. You can take buses and the metro to reach the place easily.

Red Fort

The iconic structure in the heart of the city needs no introduction. Painted in red, the fort was built by Shah Jahan. It was considered a political hub for a long period. Surrounded by lush greenery, the fort holds massive historical significance because it was built nearly two centuries ago.

Jama Masjid

One of the largest mosques in India, Jama Masjid is a true beauty. Emperor Shah Jahan spent around one million to construct the masjid in 1656. When you visit the colossal mosque, it won’t be too difficult for you to believe the amount used to build it. The decorated minarets and gates, along with a red sandstone appeal, reflects true exuberance. The wide courtyard can accommodate around 25,000 worshippers at a time.

Tughlaqabad Fort

The stone structure has 15-metre high, sloping walls. They used to serve as barricades for battlement parapets. Stories from different eras surround this historical monument. It was built way back in 1321 AD by Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq. The fort offered strategic advantages to the ones fighting from there. If you want to post jaw-dropping pictures to stun your social media followers, Tughlaq Fort should be on your radar.

Purana Qila

Purana Qila, or Old Fort, has been standing in Delhi for more than 5000 years. Sher Shah Suri constructed it while ruling over the region. It is the death spot of Mughal emperor Humayun, who succumbed to his injuries after slipping down the stairs of the library.

Purana Qila is more of a boundary around which the city was built. It has 20 metres high and around four metres thick fortifications, which are impossible to penetrate. You can enjoy a light and sound show here or take a boat ride on the fort’s outskirts.

Parting Words

Our national capital takes tourists on a rollercoaster ride of history, tradition, culture, and heritage. Every monument has its own story that will take you back in time. Book your flight to Delhi today to witness the city in all its glory and grandeur.
