3 Tidy Ways to Keep a Clean Office on a Tight Budget

February 10, 2020

3 tidy ways to keep a clean office on a tight budget | lets be game changers lets be game changers

Contemporary Room Workplace Office Supplies Concept

When was the last time you cleaned your room? It’s something that everyone struggles with from time-to-time. But if your home is a mess then the chances are your office will be a mess too. The problem is your office no doubt feels like a much bigger space and it’s easy to become overwhelmed.

You might also not have the budget for a weekly or monthly cleaner as money is tight.

But don’t despair. By carrying out these simple tasks regularly you can ensure you have a clean office.

Here’s how to keep your environment clean.

1. Make a To-Do List and Stick to It

If your company’s office is dirty you can feel overwhelmed. It can feel as if you are looking out on a war zone and you are in fact fighting a losing battle. However, there is one thing you can do to get on top of your dirty office.

Make a list of all the cleaning tasks that need doing in one week. If you are worried that you will lose your list write it down in a Google Doc or a list-making app and send it to all who are concerned.

Allocate a date and time each week when these tasks will take place and stick to it. Don’t make the excuse that you need to work later because of impending deadlines or a higher workload. Get into the habit of stopping what you are doing to clean.

Don’t forget about purchasing this sds book to keep on track of all your cleaning duties.

2. Get Everyone to Pitch In

If you are the boss of a big company then you can get your employees to pitch in with the cleaning routine every week. Even if the building or company has housekeeping or janitorial staff there are some tasks that they don’t cover.

Allocate a task to every employee each week. There’s no need to crack the whip and make them feel pressured into cleaning. Instead, explain the situation and remind them that they don’t want to work in an environment that is cluttered and messy and this is the only way to make it happen. It can also be a Health and Safety issue if there are tripping hazards or possible dangers of injury on sharp or cluttered areas.

Cleaning can be a corporate bonding exercise.

3. Incentivize Clean Desks

Remember just because you are not a customer-facing business doesn’t mean people won’t see your office: conference calls are becoming increasingly common where businessmen and women from around the world will see your clutter.

If you want to make your office clean then incentivize clean desks. Hoarding is not good for our mental health so encourage employees to throw out anything they don’t need. Startup a scheme whereby each employer gets an extra day of vacation or a gift card if they can prove that they have clean desks.

This makes cleaning less of a chore and more something that employees can win prizes and praise for, creating a good work environment.

Want a Clean Office? Get Everyone on Board

If you want a clean office then be sure to get every one of your staff on board. Make cleaning a team effort amongst all managers and staff and create games and incentives for having clean desks and workspaces. This could be in the form of gift cards or extra time off.

Allocate each employer a different task each week to work on and make sure they stick to it. In no time you’ll have a workplace advantage.
